role-summary-4.png

The Scenic Painter will assist the Head of Scenic Art in producing scenic items to a high standard, and contribute to the safe and efficient running of the Paintshop.

As Scenic Painter you will take a hands‑on role in painting and texturing scenic elements, working to production and installation deadlines and occasionally supporting long or irregular hours when required. The role involves maintaining a safe, organised Paintshop, and supporting sustainability by developing and using environmentally conscious methods. You’ll also collaborate across departments assisting Construction or Props when needed, creating paint samples, sourcing materials, and working alongside freelance, student and apprentice colleagues—taking the lead where appropriate.

The successful candidate will bring experience of working in a busy scenic environment, the ability to produce high‑quality work, follow direction, work confidently from scale models and technical drawings, and apply solid knowledge of scenic tools, materials and techniques. They must demonstrate reliability under tight deadlines and show flexibility, adaptability and diligence. It’s a bonus if you’ve worked closely with designers, managed stock, collaborated across departments, or hold COSHH, Manual Handling or access‑equipment training, including experience of working at height.
